DeckCraft: The Open-Source PowerPoint Alternative in the ArtCraft Suite
Updated 2026-10-11
DeckCraft is the presentation app in the ArtCraft suite - the open-source counterpart to Microsoft PowerPoint, completing the Office family alongside WordCraft and GridCraft.
What it replaces
The PowerPoint workflow: slide masters, layouts, shapes, images, speaker notes, transitions and PPTX files.
What it does today
- Slide decks with masters and layouts.
- Shapes, text, images and media on slides.
- Transitions and speaker notes.
- PPTX import/export for Office handoff.
Where it is rough
- Animation system is basic compared to PowerPoint's.
- SmartArt-equivalent diagram tools are thin.
- PPTX round-tripping complex decks can lose fidelity.
Who it suits now
Straightforward decks and presentations without heavy animation. Elaborate corporate template ecosystems should stay on Office.
